El Zangarrón de Sanzoles

The ancestral magic and living mythology returns to Arte Feudo. On the eve of Christmas, the Zangarrón defies the rural exodus and fills Sanzoles with celebrations and joy. The ritual begins at dawn with the dressing after a night in which the cowbells have not stopped ringing. The fifth chosen is enclosed under the costume and behind the leather mask, white mule hair and ribbons of a thousand colors. He will go out to respond to the provocations of the young men and women with his cock, the virile member of a bull turned into a whip. He will protect the dancers who take San Esteban, the first martyr, in procession while they dance intricate dances with venias and castanets, capes and bands to the sound of the drummer.

Later, the Zangarrón exchanges the vergajo for his other magical weapon, the stick with swollen bladders and horsehair. The whole village accompanies him, ringing their tambourines, belts loaded with cowbells and shearing. The Zangarrón chases those who tempt him with offerings that he keeps in his bag and in his satchel.

Our figure portrays the Zangarrón of Sanzoles with all its characteristic elements, modeled in clay with a sculptural aesthetic reminiscent of idols of ancient cultures. It includes the drummer and the dancers in the initial formation of the Baile del Niño, with their respective colored castanets and costumes. They dance to a highly detailed figure of St. Stephen the Protomartyr modeled in virtual reality.

It measures 8.6 x 4 x 5.5 inches and it's made with resin and marble powder, painted in acrylics and finished with wax and polish.

Vuelve a Arte Feudo la magia ancestral y la mitología viva. En las vísperas de Navidad, el Zangarrón desafía al éxodo rural y llena Sanzoles de celebraciones y alegría. El ritual comienza de madrugada con la vestición después de una noche en la que no han dejado de sonar los cencerros. El quinto elegido queda encerrado bajo el traje y tras la máscara de piel, pelo de mula blanca y cintas de mil colores. Saldrá a responder a las provocaciones de mozos y mozas con su vergajo, el miembro viril de un toro convertido en fusta. Protegerá a los danzantes que sacan en procesión a San Esteban, el primer mártir, mientras bailan intrincados bailes con venias y castañuelas, capas y bandas al son del tamborilero.

Más tarde, el Zangarrón cambia el vergajo por su otra arma mágica, el palo con vejigas hinchadas y crin de caballo. Todo el pueblo le acompaña haciendo sonar sus panderetas, cinturones cargados de cencerros y esquilas. El Zangarrón persigue a quienes le tientan con ofrendas que guarda en su bolsa y en su zurrón.

Nuestra figura retrata al Zangarrón de Sanzoles con todos sus elementos característicos, modelado en barro con una estética escultórica que recuerda a ídolos de culturas ancestrales. Incluye al tamborilero y a los danzantes en la formación inicial del Baile del Niño, con sus respectivas castañuelas de colores y vestimentas. Le bailan a una figura muy detallada de San Esteban protomártir modelada en realidad virtual.
